Special Events offers a variety of free and ticketed concerts, comedy shows and community events, as well as recent and classic movies at Peacock Hall. Tickets can be purchased in the Recreation Department or online at MyRossmoor.com. Recreation also sponsors several big annual community-wide events, including a flea market in the spring, a Fourth of July celebration and a fall bazaar. It also co-sponsors the annual Diversity Festival in the fall.

The Excursions coordinator offers both day and extended trips for residents’ pleasure. There is a listing of all the day and extended trips in the Rossmoor News. Tickets for day trips can be purchased going online to MyRossmoor.com or by calling or stopping by the Recreation Department. Trip tickets may be purchased by check or credit card. All trips are open to Rossmoor residents and their guests.

The Recreation Department hosts a variety of activities and classes. Social gatherings are held monthly to introduce new residents to Rossmoor. They also sponsor holiday-centric and multigenerational events for residents and their families and oversee programs like Friday Lunch and Farmers’ Market (see page 31). Monthly classes are offered for free or a nominal fee in crafts, cooking, technology and a variety of other interests. Rossmoor has five clubhouses with various rooms and areas available for rental. These facilities range from small meeting rooms to large auditorium-style rooms that can be rented for weddings or concerts. Residents also can book the picnic grounds at Sportsmen’s Park and Dollar Park. Many of the facilities have state-of-the-art sound and audio-visual equipment. Sound and lighting technicians are available to assist with events if needed.
