Fitness Center trainers Katleen Lamport, Nora Pallotta, and Ash Harrison will be hosting two workshop sessions focusing on how to safely get up from a fall. The first session will be held on Monday, May 18th, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in the Serenity Studio and the second session will be held on Wednesday, May 20th from 12:00pm – 1:00pm in the Serenity Studio. Each session is limited to 15 participants, and attendees only need to register for one.
The workshop will cover a variety of techniques for getting up from a fall, with time built in for participants to practice and ask questions. In addition, the instructors will review what to do after a fall, how to help control a fall to reduce the risk of injury, and general fall prevention tips. The session will also include a discussion on the importance of strength and balance training, along with exercises that support the muscles used when getting up from the ground.
Sign-ups will open one week ahead of time, following the same process used for group fitness classes. Registration for the Monday, May 18 session will open on Monday, May 11 at 8:00am, and registration for the Wednesday, May 20 session will open on Wednesday, May 13 at 8:00am.
